Being involved in our local communities is one of the things we value the most here at Home Care Assistance. One of the ways we can best show we care is through supporting some of our favorite charities that benefit seniors. We love working with organizations with strong reputations and well-trained professionals, and so we’re sharing our top 5 charities with you!

Meals on Wheels America

America’s senior population is growing at an alarming rate, and more and more seniors are becoming at-risk of hunger and isolation. Meals on Wheels America is on a quest to deliver meals to one of our society’s most vulnerable groups, whose independence is often stripped away by the challenges of aging. Meals on Wheels America makes sure seniors are getting the nutrition and social interaction they need.

Alzheimer’s Foundation of America

The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America lends a helping hand to seniors and their families nationwide who are affected by Alzheimer’s Disease or dementia. Individuals, families, and caregivers affected by Alzheimer’s Disease can account the AFA for support, services, and education, and the organization fundraises for research, better treatments, and a cure.

Second Wind Dreams

This inspiring organization is working to achieve one very sweet goal: to alter the way we view aging and to fulfill the dreams of seniors. Second Wind Dreams knows that everyone has a dream, no matter how old they are. They’re giving seniors their “second wind” and shedding a positive light on aging.

Honor Flight Network

Our senior Veterans deserve to be honored, and the Honor Flight Network is making that happen. By helping senior Veterans travel to Washington D.C., they are able to visit and pay homage to the war memorials that honor their fellow services members who served and sacrificed.

Pets for the Elderly

Our furry friends provide us with endless love and joy, and that’s exactly why Pets for the Elderly looks to unite seniors with companion animals! Seniors get the companionship and love they deserve from pets, while the companion animals are saved from shelters. It’s a happy ending all around!
